On March 25th, Colombia entered in a national compulsory quarantine due the worldwide pandemic of the Coronavirus COVID-19. At the moment, it is decreed to finish on April 13th, but it is expected that it gets prolonged until the end of that month.
In the Colombian context, this situation especially hits those families that depend on daily incomes to survive. Street vendors, artisans, small food and beverage stalls, transporters, and more, got affected by the movement restrictions and low flow of people; without the possibly of working at the usual rhythm and without state subsidies to face the circumstances, they go straight into a financial and economic crisis.
Airnomads, with Lucho Jiménez as organizer, launches a campaign to raise funds and give essential groceries to some of those families. The idea is to accompany them during the time that lasts the quarantine, giving them supplies biweekly three times and keeping abreast of other needs that may arise. Our team of Roldanillo Easy and Maclic accepted the logistics leadership and will make an identification of the families and the purchase, packaging and delivery of aid.
The donations may have any value. With every 50.000 COP ( 13 USD) donated, it will be delivered supplies to a family such as: rice, pasta, various legumes, salt, sugar, oil, chocolate, brown sugar, cornmeal, eggs, cookies and a bag of fresh vegetables.
At the moment has been selected 60 families affected by the measures which don't get any government support, some of them are related with the Paragliding and other kind of tourist activities. The deliveries started on March 28th and the first 15 beneficiaries were families of Ansermanuevo. We hope to make the next deliveries in Roldanillo in the following days.
We want to thank all the people that have helped with this cause and specially to the Paragliding community which has gotten together for this. With their support we will manage to make a difference for these families and take care of each other.
